BEACHES
Most of the fancy hotels on Blvd de la Croisette have their own private beach. This means there is only a small section of public sand near the Palais des Festivals. Other free beaches include Plages du Midi and Plages de la Bocca. These stretch westward from the old port along Blvd Jean Hibert and Blvd du Midi.

PORTS
Vieux Port
This fishing port is pleasant to stroll around in the evening when the cafes and restaurants light up the area. In the day it is filled with yachts.

Le Suquet
Climb this small hill west of Vieux Port in the afternoon for magnificent views and a lovely sunsets. There is a museum in a chateau up here with Mediterranean and Middle Eastern antiquities.

ISLANDS
Ile Sainte Marguerite
This is where the Man in the Iron Mask was held captive in the 17th century. This island is 1km from the mainland. It has many trails for walking. See the getting around section for details on how to get here.

Ile Saint Honorat
This island is home to Cistercian monks. Visitors are welcome to the monastery. There are seven small chapels on the island. See the getting around section for details on how to get here.
