Blois has steep, twisting medieval streets. It was something of a second capital
of France in the 16th century. The area surrounding has some of the countries
finest cahteaux and is perfect for cycling.
Tours remains a medieval town iwht the cosmopolitan and bourgeois air of a French
provincial city. It was devastated in WWII but has been mostly rebuilt. The purest
French is spoken in Tours.
Amboise is a picturesque hillside town only a day trip from Tours. Leonardo da
Vinci came to live here.
