There are four principal areas in Monaco.
Monaco Ville is the old city perched atop a crag overlooking
the Port. Monte Carlo which is famous for its casion and its
Grand Prix motor race is north of the harbour. La Condamine
is the flat area around the harbour. Fontvieille is an industrial
area south west of Monaco Ville and the Port de Fontvieille.
PALACES
Palais du Prince
Every day at 11.55am the changing of the guard takes place outside the Prince's
Palace. Between June and October about 15 state apartments are open to the public.
9.30am to 6.20pm. Cost? Guided tours in English are available.
MUSEUMS
Musèe des Souvenirs Napolèoniens
This display of Napoleon's personal belongings is in the west wing of the Palais
du Prince. An additional cost is involved but a combined ticket for entry can
be purchased.
Musèe Ocèanographique
This world famous museum has 90 sea water tanks. Ave Saint Martin in Monaco Ville.
Open 9am to 7pm (to 8pm in July and August).
CHURCHES
Cathèdrale de Monaco
This 19th century cathedral has the grave of Grace Kelly who married Prince Rainier
III in 1956. Other membes of the royal family are buried in the church crypt.

GARDENS
Jardin Exotique
This garden is built into the steep slopes of a hill and affords spectacular
views, 7000 varieties of cacti and entrance to the Musèe d'Antropolgie
Prèhistorique and the caves of the Grottes de l'Observatorie. Take bus
no 2 from the tourist office.
OTHER SIGHTS
Casino
This ornate casino was built between 1878 and 1910. The entrance fee is quite
high, you must be at least 21 years of age to enter, shorts are forbidden in
the Salon Ordinaire and men must wear a tie and jacket after 9pm in the Salons
Privès.
