There is plenty for everyone in the Lot Valley. The Lot river from where the valley takes it's name can be found everywhere and if you do any amount of exploring here you will cross it all the time. Bridges in all towns give it a dramatic setting, and you can hire or take boat cruises by its shores.
Medieval towns like Cahors are worth some time with its large market square or Rocamadour which perches on the edge of a ravine. Visit the "hanging villages" of St Cirq-Lapopie or Calvignac but save some time too for the little gems like Gindou that has an annual film festival in August.
Most towns have wine and cheese fairs particularly in the summer months or a weekly market. There are also prehistoric sites in this region, including the neolithic paintings at the caves of Pech Merle.
