HI Hostel
Tours
The people at the HI hostel in Tours in the Loire Valley were great. I'm also big into travelling karma - what goes around comes around and I write this as an official "thankyou". If it gets them more business then their kindness has paid off. I arrived late one winters night at 9pm. There were few lights on and it was hard to find but the door was open so I walked in. The man at the desk seemed suprised to see me but gave me a bed. I was so tired I went straight to sleep. In the morning there was a fantastic breakfast - bread, orange juice, hot chocolate milk, jam, butter and four kinds of cereal. I was munching away when they asked if I had been lonely. Apparently the place was officially closed but they hadn't the heart to turn me away. Their English wasn't great but they gave me a book of hostels in France, told me which were open and wished me well. I couldn't stick around but the facilities looked great. There was a jukebox, a pinball machine, a kitchen, TV, a comfortable lounge, and plenty of tourist and reading materials. The rooms were clean and neat with 3-4 beds in each, heating, hot showers and good bathrooms. A sweet place to stay open or closed. May good karma continue.
